how do I get there?
Roots Church gathers every Sunday, at 11am! Our address is 31-10 47th St., Astoria, NY 11103 (on the corner of 47th street and 31st Ave). We are conveniently located a block and a half away from the R & M Trains and have an on-site parking lot! There are flags and signs out front.
where do I go when I get there?
When you arrive, you will be greeted by warm and welcoming faces! There will be clear signage outside directing you to the entrance of the church. After service, please make sure to stop by our “Welcome Center” at the back of the back corner of the sanctuary. We'll have a gift waiting for you as a way of saying thanks for coming! Stopping by the welcome center will also allow us the opportunity to answer any questions you have, provide you with next steps, and serve you and your family in whatever way we can.
what about my kids?
We have a clean, safe, and fun experience every Sunday for your little ones. After you sign them in, they will have an amazing time singing and dancing to interactive worship (if they want to participate...no pressure). There will be a time of engaging Bible Study with teachers dressed up as Bible characters! Kids can participate in crafts and will be given snacks and juice (we will ask about allergies). We also have an amazing nursery for babies where your children will be loved well and prayed over.
We think it's important to note that if it makes you feel more comfortable, your child can also remain with you in the sanctuary. We completely understand the hesitancy any parent may have in a new environment.
All of our volunteers undergo a strict FBI background check to ensure your child's safety and well being. No volunteer is permitted to ever be alone with your child for any reason.
what should I wear?
Roots has a “come as you are” atmosphere. It's a casual environment with no expectations for attire.
what is a sunday service like?
Our Sunday services offer powerful live worship and Bible teaching that is applicable to everyday life. Take a look through our message archives to get a feel for what a service is like. You can also check out our Sunday Gathering page for more info. Each service lasts about an hour and a half.
